The training programmes of Arete deliver fast effective results whilst concentrating on simplicity. They can be performed anywhere in the shortest time available. This can be in as little as 15 minutes to a maximum of 1 hour. These training routines can be used for the part time trainer as well as the more serious athlete.
Arete4Life will fully cover the following subjects:
· Muscle building
· Weight loss
· Strength
· Speed and power
· Endurance
· Sport specific training ie boxing, tennis, cycling etc
· Martial arts conditioning
· Stress relief
· Self healing techniques for specific conditions ie arthritis, ME, back pain, high blood pressure etc
· Mental focus ie self hypnosis, visualisation, meditation etc.
The core of these routines is bodyweight callisthenics. Most people consider bodyweight exercises to be no more than press ups, sit ups and chin ups and mistakenly regard them to be inferior to most other forms of resistance training.
Arete Health & Fitness has drawn on a huge arsenal of bodyweight callisthenics from Greek, Indian, Chinese and Japanese sources. They are the foundation of the Arete system, just as they were for the ancient warrior and still are for many modern combat athletes. All our other resistance training compliments and increases the effectiveness of the bodyweight callisthenics, allowing for a progressive functional strength training system.
In addition, Arete recommends equipment such as medicine balls, stability balls, kettle bells, resistance straps, free weights, weighted jackets and club weights. Once an individual has achieved a basic level of conditioning we normally find a combination of these tools gives greater results than sticking with just one method.
We do not advocate the use of resistance machines of the modern fitness club because they are simply ineffective and do not deliver adequate results, so they have no place here.
To compliment the training, we also advocate the physical and mental rejuvenation techniques of the Chinese Self Healing Art, Chi Kung. Chi Kung literally translates as energy exercise and includes gentle movements, breathing techniques, stress relief and visualisation. With Arete, exercise can be used for recovery, healing or strengthening, depending on a persons current physical and mental condition.
